ShimmerVerb is a unique reverb plug-in that integrates parallel pitch shifters into its design, creating a lustrous and ethereal effect that adds depth to any sound. This technique has roots in the music industry, notably used by producers like Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno in U2's The Unforgettable Fire album, where traditional pitch shifting hardware was combined with reverbs to produce a shimmering ambiance.
Unlike its predecessors, ShimmerVerb offers a modern and unified interface suitable for enhancing guitars, keys, synths, samples, and vocals. With the ability to infinitely feedback the signal and specify feedback frequencies through a cross-over network, users can sculpt cascading reverbs tailored to their preferences.
Playable parameters such as "The Ribbon" provide performance-based control, allowing for dynamic morphing between settings using a single control. The integration of MIDI capabilities enables tactile command over this function, empowering users to experiment with Feedback swells, Pitch knob adjustments, or Size modifications for unique detuning effects.
Moreover, the inclusion of a HotSwitch feature enables seamless transitions between parameter states within presets, offering flexibility for adjusting octaves, toggling pitch shifters on/off, or modulating the Mix level during performances. The Freeze button further enriches the sonic palette by transforming single voices, pads, or percussive elements into smeared metallic textures.
